Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 4:58 PM MDT Aug. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
south central Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico...
east central Chaves County in southeastern New Mexico...

* until 700 PM MDT.

* At 456 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms over far eastern Chaves County. This will cause
Arroyo flooding in the advisory area, including areas along The
Caprock and Mescalero Sands area, as well as the Cato oil fields.

* Flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of south central
Roosevelt and east central Chaves counties.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

The heavy rainfall and slow movement of these storms may result in
flooding of Road intersections and low lying areas. Waters may begin
to run in normally dry arroyos.
