...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 AM CDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...In Wisconsin, Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas Counties. * WHEN...Until 1030 AM CDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1110 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Radar estimates and spotter reports indicate between 2 and 8 inches of rain have fallen. - This warning replaces the Flash Flood Warning. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Ashland, Washburn, Sanborn, Iron River, Lake Nebagamon, Barnes, Barksdale, Brule, Solon Springs, Drummond, Gordon, Town of Delta, Ino, Benoit, Odanah, Bennett, Mason, Lake Owen, Upper Eau Claire Lake and Grand View. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you can do so safely.
