* IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of
stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on
their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area
or conduct mitigation.

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.

Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:42 PM Dec. 18, 2025 – National Weather Service
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between
1 and 3 inches except between 3 and 5 inches for northern Iron
County. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Ashland, Bayfield, and Iron Counties. This includes the
Tribal Lands of the Red Cliff Band, the northwestern area of the
Lac du Flambeau Band and the Bad River Reservation. Other
locations including the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and
Madeline Island.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.

Lake effect snow bands and showers are expected to create conditions
ranging from locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles
away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid
changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions.
