* WHAT...For the Gale Warning, north winds 20 to 30 kt with
gusts up to 40 kt and waves 6 to 11 ft expected. For the Heavy
Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm
per hour or greater expected, and may rapidly accumulate on
vessels.

* WHERE...Duluth MN to Sand Island WI to Bayfield WI, Oak Point
to Saxon Harbor WI and Outer Apostle Islands Beyond 5 NM from
Mainland.

* WHEN...For the Gale Warning, from 6 PM this evening to 9 PM
CST Monday. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, from 9 PM
this evening to 9 PM CST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of
stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on
their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area
or conduct mitigation.

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for hazardous conditions.

Blizzard Warning
Issued: 7:14 PM Dec. 28, 2025 – National Weather Service
...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Total snow accumulations between 9 and
14 inches except between 14 and 18 inches for northern Iron
County. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Ashland and Iron Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands
of the northwestern area of the Lac du Flambeau Band and the Bad
River Reservation. Other locations including Madeline Island.

* WHEN...Until noon CST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected, and will make travel
treacherous and potentially life-threatening, especially along
Highway 2. Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The
hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel,
have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with
