* At 446 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 2 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Cleveland Va, Coeburn, St. Paul and Castlewood.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

AND WISE COUNTIES AND THE CITY OF NORTON THROUGH 530 PM EDT...

At 439 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Maggard, or 8 miles south of Whitesburg, moving southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 45 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Norton, Wise, Big Stone Gap, Coeburn, Appalachia, Dungannon, Jasper,
Fort Blackmore, and Pardee.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
