...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON... ...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...South Central Bedford County in south central Virginia... Northwestern Pittsylvania County in south central Virginia... Northeastern Floyd County in southwestern Virginia... Franklin County in west central Virginia... Southeastern Roanoke County in west central Virginia... The City of Roanoke in west central Virginia... The City of Salem in west central Virginia... * WHEN...Until 300 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Elevated water levels on area creeks and small rivers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1000 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated light to moderate rain falling across the advisory area. Minor flooding is already occurring at some locations due to between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain that fell early this morning. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Back Creek, Blackwater River, Big Chestnut Creek and Big Bear Rock Branch. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
