...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Georgia, including the following areas, Bulloch, Candler, Coastal Bryan, Coastal Chatham, Coastal Liberty, Coastal McIntosh, Effingham, Evans, Inland Bryan, Inland Chatham, Inland Liberty, Inland McIntosh, Jenkins, Long, Screven and Tattnall and southeast South Carolina, including the following areas, Allendale, Beaufort, Charleston, Coastal Colleton, Coastal Jasper, Dorchester, Hampton, Inland Berkeley, Inland Colleton, Inland Jasper and Tidal Berkeley. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Bands of heavy rainfall will spread across southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina throughout the day. Widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts of 3 to 6 inches possible. Rainfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour will be possible within the heaviest rain bands. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Be prepared to protect life and property, especially in areas prone to flooding. ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... ...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING... * WHAT...For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. For the Coastal Flood Warning, one to two feet of inundation above ground level expected along shorelines and tidal waterways (7.9 to 8.1 feet Mean Lower Low Water at Charleston). * WHERE...Coastal Colleton and Charleston Counties. * WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, through this evening. For the Coastal Flood Warning, from 7 AM to 11 AM EDT this morning. * IMPACTS...Significant saltwater inundation will render numerous roads impassable. Properties may also flood. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High tide will occur around 8:45 AM this morning at Charleston. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to 2 hours before and after high tide. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Visit water.weather.gov for additional water level and flood impact information. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline.
