...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Multiple days with Heat Index values from 105 to 110. * WHERE...Portions of east central Georgia and central South Carolina. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Thunderstorms on Saturday may hamper heating but pockets of Heat Index values up to 110 will still be possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
