Special Weather Statement
Issued: 12:46 AM Mar. 23, 2026 – National Weather Service
...Minor, Slushy Accumulation of Wet Snow and Sleet Possible For
the Monday Morning Commute...

Ongoing areas of rain are expected to change to a slushy wintry
mix of sleet and snow between 2 to 4 AM Monday, and then taper
off between 9 to 11 AM Monday. Total snow and sleet accumulations
of a coating to 2 inches are anticipated, primarily on grassy
non-paved surfaces. It is possible that embedded heavier
precipitation bands could lead to slushy accumulations on
pavement, which would impact travelers during the Monday morning
commute. This wintry precipitation should be mainly focused within
about 20 miles either side of the Massachusetts Turnpike, but
could extend as far south as the Hartford to Providence corridor.

Motorists and commuters travelling during the pre-dawn hours into
Monday morning should be aware of this changeover to wintry
precipitation and the potential for slippery conditions. Travel
with extra caution if snow and sleet is encountered Monday
morning.
