...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Additional snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches. Locally higher amounts up to 12 inches within the most persistent lake effect snow bands. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Southern Erie County. * WHEN...Until 4 AM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An initial burst of snow will accompany a cold front this evening, with a quick coating of snow on roadways and visibilities dropping below one half mile at times. Wet roads will also become icy if left untreated. Lake effect snow showers will then develop late tonight and persist through Thursday night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel restrictions and delay unnecessary travel.
