...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING... ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM CDT TUESDAY... * WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 111. For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 107 expected. * WHERE...In Arkansas, Crawford and Sebastian Counties. In Oklahoma, Muskogee, Sequoyah, Craig, Mayes, Nowata, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner, Washington OK, and Haskell Counties. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM CDT this evening. For the Heat Advisory, from noon to 8 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity could create a dangerous situation in which heat related illnesses are more likely. Heat related illnesses are possible especially impacting those not acclimated to the conditions or those performing strenuous activities. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
