These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Central Long Island Sound to Great South Bay, moving west at 25 knots. There is already a gale warning in effect so wind gusts up to 45 kt can be expected. Locations impacted include... Falkner Island, Mouth of the Housatonic River, Smithtown Bay, Central Long Island Sound, Herod Point, Port Jefferson Harbor, Stratford Shoal, and Bridgeport. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gale force winds, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until hazardous weather passes. &&

In New York, New York (Manhattan) County. * WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront. Some road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront could become flooded. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take the necessary actions to protect flood prone property.
