...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 6 to 10 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow in open areas. * WHERE...Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and far Southern Erie Counties. The greatest accumulations will be across the higher terrain inland from Lake Erie and well south of the Buffalo Southtowns. * WHEN...Until 4 AM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult with snow covered roads and poor visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands.
