At 459 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9 miles northwest of Tularosa, moving west at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds with blowing dust along US 70 near Holloman AFB could reduce visibility resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Locations impacted include... White Sands National Park, Northrup Landing, Tularosa, Three Rivers, Alamogordo, La Luz, Holloman Air Force Base, Salinas Peak, Boles Acres, Oliver Lee State Park, Lake Lucero, and Three Rivers Petroglyph Site. North Central Otero County in south central New Mexico... * Until 700 PM MDT. * At 354 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.0 and 1.5 inch of rain has fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Bent and Tularosa Falls and surrounding areas will see high flows along Tularosa Creek. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Tularosa and Bent.
