The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch...which is in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday evening. * AREA AND TIMING...Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106) and East Central Plains (Zone 126) from 9 AM through 8 PM Sunday. * 20 FOOT WINDS...Northwest 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph across the Middle Rio Grande Valley. Similar speeds across the East Central Plains from the north. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 6 and 13 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and will be hard to control. Long range spotting and extreme fire behavior will be possible. Outdoor burning should not be done. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Winds will become northerly across eastern NM behind a backdoor cold front. * WHERE...All areas from the Central Mountain Chain to the Texas border as well as the Albuquerque and Santa Fe Metro areas. * WHEN...From late Saturday night through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Localized areas of blowing dusts may reduce visibility.
