...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR MUCH OF SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO AND FAR WEST TEXAS... * AFFECTED AREA...All of southwest and south-central New Mexico, including Fire Weather Zones 110, 111, 112, and 113. All of Far West Texas including Fire Weather Zones 055 and 056. * TIMING...Wednesday between 11 AM and 9 PM. * WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...8 to 12 percent in the lowlands, and 15 to 20 percent in the higher terrain above 7500 feet. * EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...5 to 7 or Critical to Extreme. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly.
