East central Monroe County in northeastern Pennsylvania... Eastern Northampton County in eastern Pennsylvania... * Until 500 PM EDT. * At 406 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Flatbrookville to near Bangor to Ancient Oaks, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible. * Locations impacted include... Allentown, Easton, Newton, Bethlehem, Dover, Hopatcong, Forks, Emmaus, Hackettstown, Wilson, Wharton, Washington, Blairstown, Hellertown, Nazareth, Bangor, Mount Arlington, Franklin, Flemington, and High Bridge. This includes the following highways... Northeast Extension between mile markers 51 and 54. Interstate 78 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 56 and 76. ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 100 degrees. * WHERE...In New Jersey, Morris and Hunterdon Counties. In Pennsylvania, Upper Bucks, Western Chester, and Western Montgomery Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warm and very humid conditions at night will not offer much relief from the heat and humidity. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
