...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of northeast New Jersey, including the following
counties, Bergen, Essex and Passaic.

* WHEN...Until 630 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...River or stream flows are elevated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 455 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small stream
flooding. Rapid river rises have already caused minor
flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 to 0.3 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Paterson, Passaic, Wayne, Hackensack, Bergenfield, Paramus,
Ridgewood, Ramsey, Ridgefield, Fort Lee, Englewood,
Hawthorne, Oradell, Fairfield, Norwood, Teterboro, Clifton,
Teaneck, Fair Lawn and Garfield.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
