...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of northeast New Jersey, including the following
counties, Bergen, Essex, Passaic and Union.

* WHEN...Until 545 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 257 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause
minor flooding in the advisory area.
- Rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected.
- Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Newark, Paterson, Passaic, Wayne, Plainfield, Bloomfield,
Hackensack, Linden, Orange, Bergenfield, Paramus, Ridgewood,
Summit, Lyndhurst, Millburn, Rutherford, Secaucus, Ramsey,
Ringwood and Pompton Lakes.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...A portion of northeast New Jersey, including the following
areas, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern
Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic and
Western Union.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Rounds of heavy showers with embedded thunderstorms are
expected through this afternoon with localized rainfall rates
of 1" to possibly 2" per hour possible. Any training of
thunderstorms may result in localized flash flooding.
