The combination of breezy northerly winds gusting as high as 25 to 30 mph, ongoing drought, and relative humidity values in the 25 to 30 percent range will lead to an increased fire danger for portions of Eastern North Carolina today. Outdoor burning is discouraged. Please refer to your local burn permitting authority on whether you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution and ensure fire suppression equipment is readily available.
