Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 633 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Piedmont and western North Carolina, including the following areas, in Piedmont North Carolina, Cabarrus, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg and Rowan. In western North Carolina, Buncombe, Burke Mountains, Eastern McDowell, Eastern Polk, Graham, Greater Burke, Greater Rutherford, Haywood, Henderson, Macon, Madison, McDowell Mountains, Mitchell, Northern Jackson, Polk Mountains, Rutherford Mountains, Southern Jackson, Swain, Transylvania and Yancey. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Waves of heavy rain showers and scattered thunderstorms will continue moving along a slow-moving cold front through this afternoon.
