Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches with locally higher amounts of 4 to 6 inches possible east of I-95. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...Coastal Plain and eastern Sandhills. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult or even impossible at times. Gusty winds will likely cause blowing and drifting snow that may cause brief blizzard conditions. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 5 below expected. * WHERE...All of central North Carolina. * WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 1 AM EST Sunday. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 1 AM to 10 AM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside.
