...FIRE DANGER STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING... Little if any rainfall fell across the area last night after the cold frontal passage. As a result, the combination of dry fuels from the ongoing drought, low relative humidity and gusty winds will lead to an increased fire danger across southeast NC today. Strong north to northeast winds at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 to 35 mph will be accompanied by relative humidity values falling to 20 to 30 percent this afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Outdoor burning is not recommended today. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do burn, you are advised to use extreme caution and to have fire suppression equipment readily on-hand. &&
