...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL BEAUFORT, CENTRAL CRAVEN, EAST CENTRAL
JONES AND PAMLICO COUNTIES...

At 549 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms
producing flooding in Trent Woods. An observer in Trent Woods
reported over 4 inches of rain in the past 90 minutes. The expected
rainfall rate is 1.5 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall
amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash
flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
New Bern, James City, Trent Woods, River Bend, Lowland, Florence,
Grantsboro, Olympia, Whortonsville, Rhems, Maribel, Merritt,
Fairfield Harbour, Coastal Carolina Regional Airport, Bayboro,
Alliance, Bridgeton, Pollocksville, Stonewall and Vandemere.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the
following counties, Beaufort, Craven, Duplin, Jones, Lenoir,
Onslow and Pamlico.

* WHEN...Until 800 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 452 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jacksonville, New Bern, Wallace, Half Moon, James City, Trent
Woods, River Bend, Phillips Crossroads, Rose Hill, Richlands,
Beulaville, Maysville, Kellum, Catherine Lake, Cypress Creek,
Askins, Cayton, Comfort, Chinquapin and Tuscarora.
