* Until 615 AM EDT.

* At 310 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible
in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Turtletown, Violet and Archville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest North Carolina, including the
following areas, Cherokee and Clay, East Tennessee, including the
following areas, Anderson, Bledsoe, Blount Smoky Mountains,
Bradley, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke Smoky Mountains, East Polk,
Grainger, Hamblen, Hamilton, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson,
Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Morgan, North Sevier,
Northwest Blount, Northwest Carter, Northwest Cocke, Northwest
Greene, Northwest Monroe, Rhea, Roane, Scott TN, Sequatchie, Sevier
Smoky Mountains, Southeast Carter, Southeast Greene, Southeast
Monroe, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union, Washington TN and West Polk, and
southwest Virginia, including the following areas, Lee, Russell,
Scott VA, Washington VA and Wise.

* WHEN...Through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Periods of showers and thunderstorms are expected today and into
tonight. Locations that receive multiple rounds of locally heavy
rainfall could experience instances of flash flooding. While
flooding could occur at any time, the flooding potential is now
expected to be greatest this morning through tonight. Locations
that have already seen flooding need less rainfall to have
additional flooding and should take new storms seriously.
