...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM MDT SUNDAY... * WHAT...Periods of snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 7 and 14 inches, greatest over the higher hills. Locally higher totals are possible. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph early this evening, decreasing overnight. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Montana. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM MDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult at times. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday commutes. Conditions may threaten young livestock. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will begin to develop over the area this evening, but accumulations will be limited and roads generally wet to slushy through Friday. Heavier snow is expected Friday night through Saturday evening with roads conditions deteriorating. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...West wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph occurring. Locally higher gusts are possible. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Montana. * WHEN...Until 9 PM MDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Strong to dangerous crosswinds will make travel difficult along Highway 191 from Big Timber through Judith Gap, and Highway 12 from Harlowton to Lavina. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Any sparked fires in dry grasses will spread rapidly. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution and consider postponing travel until winds subside, or take an alternate route. Please avoid activities that could spark fires. &&
