...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Snow expected. There is a likelihood of moderate to isolated major winter weather impacts. Total snow accumulations up to 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Flathead Lake, Polson, Mission Valley, and Flathead Valley. * WHEN...Until 8 PM MST Saturday. * IMPACTS...For MINOR winter weather impacts, expect a few inconveniences to normal activities. Use caution while driving. Winter traveling conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute, especially over higher passes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rain has changed over to snow earlier than expected in the Flathead Valley beginning winter weather impacts. Heavy snow bands and or snow squalls are possible late Friday night into Saturday morning with the arrival of a strong cold front. An Arctic front will move westward across the Continental Divide and into the region on Saturday bringing an uptick in northeast winds toward 50 mph possible in and near canyon gaps and downsloping foothills. Much colder temperatures with, and behind, this Arctic front on Saturday. Rapid freeze up of any wet or slushy surfaces is possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
