...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central and north central Missouri, including the following counties, in central Missouri, Howard. In north central Missouri, Chariton. * WHEN...From 4 PM CDT this afternoon through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A strong cold front moving into the region this afternoon and evening will be the focus for widespread thunderstorm development. Storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall in a short amount of time. With recent rains across the region, areas receiving the heaviest rainfall this afternoon and evening may see localized instances of flash flooding. Additionally, thunderstorms may train over the same areas during the evening, particularly near and south of U.S. Highway 50.
