* Until 130 PM CDT Saturday.

* At 219 AM CDT Saturday, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in especially within
the Quad Cities on the Range. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Hibbing, Virginia, Chisholm, Eveleth, Mountain Iron, Hoyt Lakes,
Gilbert, Aurora, Babbitt, Keewatin, Buhl, Nashwauk, Biwabik,
Cherry, Embarrass, McCarthy Beach State Park, Perch Lake,
Franklin, Kinney and Stony Brook.

Water over roadways and in urban paved areas is especially expected
in the Quad Cities on the Iron Range.

At 217 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Buyck to 8 miles north of Biwabik to 7 miles
north of Toivola, moving east at 80 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Lake Vermilion, Virginia, Eveleth, Hoyt Lakes, Gilbert, Aurora,
Biwabik, Embarrass, Tower, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, North Cass, Northern Aitkin, Cook, Lake,
Carlton, St. Louis and Itasca Counties and Wisconsin, Ashland,
Bayfield, Douglas and Iron Counties. This includes the Tribal
Lands of the Fond du Lac Band, the Mille Lacs Band, Big Sandy Lake
area, the Red Cliff Band, the Bad River Reservation, the
northwestern area of the Lac du Flambeau Band, the Grand Portage
Reservation and the Bois Forte Band, Deer Creek, Nett Lake and,
Lake Vermilion areas. Other locations including Voyageurs National
Park, the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and Madeline Island.
The entire Boundary Waters is also included.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT this morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water
crossings may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A warm front will bring heavy rainfall which may lead to
rapid runoff and flash flooding through early this morning.
The heaviest rainfall potential will be across the Iron Range
into portions of the North Shore.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Portage and hiking trails may become slick and potentially

today and Sunday.

* WHERE...Koochiching, North Itasca, Carlton, St. Louis, and
Northern Cook and Lake Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of
the Fond du Lac Band and the Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake, Deer
Creek and, Lake Vermilion areas. Other locations including
Voyageurs National Park. The entire Boundary Waters is also
included.
