...POCKETS OF BRIEF FREEZING RAIN AND LIGHT ICE ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE OVER NORTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA INTO WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA THIS MORNING... Through 9 AM CDT, a couple areas of light rain, mainly north of U.S. Highway 12 and east of U.S. Highway 281, are moving across northeast South Dakota into west central Minnesota. At the same time, temperatures are also cooling through the 30s, on their way to the freezing mark or colder. Over the next few hours, road temperatures may remain warm enough to prevent this rain from freezing on contact with the ground, despite air temperature dropping to and below 32F degrees. Nevertheless, morning commuters, who experience rainfall this morning, should be on the lookout for patchy black ice, especially on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.
