* WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, northwest winds 20 to 30
kt with gusts up to 30 kt and waves 8 to 13 ft occurring. For
the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a
rate of 2 cm per hour or greater occurring, and may rapidly
accumulate on vessels.

* WHERE...Marquette to Munising MI, Munising to Grand Marais MI
and Grand Marais to Whitefish Point MI.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of
stability. Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on
their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area
or conduct mitigation.

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions.

* WHAT...For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills
as low as 40 below expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch,
dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below possible.

* WHERE...Baraga, Dickinson, Iron, Marquette, Menominee, Gogebic,
Keweenaw, Northern Houghton, Ontonagon, and Southern Houghton
Counties.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this
evening to 1 PM EST /noon CST/ Friday. For the Extreme Cold Watch,
from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing
temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.

Drain in-ground sprinkler systems and cover above ground pipes.
