...FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR A DAM FLOODGATE RELEASE REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 AM EDT THIS MORNING FOR SOUTHERN MANISTEE COUNTY... At 502 AM EDT, dam operators reported the floodgates on the Tippy Dam were opened causing flash flooding downstream on the Manistee River. HAZARD...Flash flooding from a dam floodgate release. SOURCE...Dam operator. IMPACT...Flooding of areas along the river immediately downstream of the dam. The nearest downstream town is High Bridge Campground...located about 3.5 miles from the dam. Areas downstream from the Tippy Dam along the Manistee River should be prepared for flooding. Flooding is occurring along the Manistee River. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you are in low lying areas below the Tippy Dam you should move to higher ground immediately. Do not attempt to drive across flooded roadways. && FLASH FLOOD...OBSERVED
