Marine Weather Statement
Issued: 1:04 PM Oct. 14, 2024 – National Weather Service
...Cold front to bring abrupt wind shift and gusty winds... As a cold front tracks across I-95, winds will quickly shift to westerly behind this system. Recent land observations show gusts have increased rather quickly, on the order of 20 to 25 knots, locally up to 30 knots at Reagan National Airport. Given most buoys are only noting 5 to 10 knot gusts at the moment, expect a rather abrupt increase in gusts over the next hour or two depending on location. Inexperience mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should exercise extra caution if navigating the waters during this time.
