Northeastern St. Landry Parish in central Louisiana... * Until 1030 PM CST. * At 956 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Prairie Ronde, or near Opelousas, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. * This dangerous storm will be near... Opelousas, Port Barre, Washington, and Grand Prairie around 1000 PM CST. Palmetto and Lebeau around 1005 PM CST. Melville around 1015 PM CST. Bayou Current around 1025 PM CST. This includes Interstate 49 between mile markers 20 and 36. At 956 PM CST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Walters to near Dupont to near Grand Prairie, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Opelousas, Eunice, Ville Platte, Marksville, Bunkie, Simmesport, Krotz Springs, Leonville, Melville, Moreauville, Palmetto, Bordelonville, Bayou Current, Morrow, Port Barre, Cottonport, Mansura, Washington, Hessmer, and Chataignier.
