...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of northwest Indiana, including the following
counties, Lake IN and Porter.

* WHEN...Until 1015 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may be ongoing in poor drainage and urban areas. Some roads and
streets may still be flooded. High water may recede slowly from
flooded areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 540 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicate that between 2 and 4 inches of rain fell across the
advisory area from Monday evening through early this morning.
It will likely take additional time for flood waters to fully
recede.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso, Schererville, Hobart,
Highland, Munster, Chesterton, Griffith, Dyer, Lake Station,
Lynwood, far southern Gary, South Haven, Porter, New Chicago,
Burns Harbor, Ogden Dunes, Town of Pines and Beverly Shores.

THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...High wave action and dangerous currents expected at Lake
Michigan beaches. Waves 3 to 6 feet expected.

* WHERE...Lake IN and Porter Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM CDT this afternoon through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Swimming conditions will be life threatening,
especially for inexperienced swimmers.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Increasing winds and building waves will
result in steadily deteriorating conditions late this afternoon,
with the worst swimming conditions expected after sunset.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions
and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other
shoreline structures.

to Michigan City IN.

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following
county, Cook and northwest Indiana, including the following
county, Lake IN.

* WHEN...Until 1015 AM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Creeks, streams, and rivers are at bankfull or flood
stage. Numerous roads are likely flooded and closed. Low-lying
parking lots, intersections, and ditches are likely flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 231 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated gauge reports
indicate that between 4 and 8 inches of rain has fallen in
the past 12 hours. Additional showers and thunderstorms may
drop up to an inch of additional rainfall over the coming
hours. This will only delay the speed at which flood waters
recede.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Calumet City, East Chicago, Lansing,
Highland, Munster, Dolton, South Holland, Griffith, South
Deering, Lake Station, Lynwood, Glenwood, Whiting, East Side,
Hegewisch, Riverdale and Burnham.
