* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Des Plaines River from IL/WI state line downstream to US-41
in Gurnee, including the Russell gauge.

* WHEN...Until late Saturday night.

* IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet, Agricultural and park land is inundated near
the river. Residential property is threatened near the river.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:30 AM CDT Monday the stage was 8.2 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 9:30 AM CDT Monday was 8.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 8.6 feet
just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage
Saturday evening.
- Flood stage is 7.0 feet.

Gurnee.

- At 9:30 AM CDT Monday the stage was 6.4 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
tomorrow morning to a crest of 8.0 feet early Thursday morning.
It will then fall below flood stage Friday evening.
- Flood stage is 7.0 feet.

- Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 9:00 AM CDT Monday was 12.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.2 feet
this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Friday
morning.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 12.2
feet on 06/13/2001.

Michigan beaches. Waves 5 to 8 ft expected.

* WHERE...Lake IL, Northern Cook and Central Cook Counties.

* WHEN...Through Wednesday evening.

* IMPACTS...Swimming conditions will be life threatening,
especially for inexperienced swimmers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions
and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other
shoreline structures.
