* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Southeastern Cook County in northeastern Illinois...
Southern DuPage County in northeastern Illinois...
Northeastern Kankakee County in northeastern Illinois...
Will County in northeastern Illinois...

* WHEN...Until 130 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may
be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1202 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
up to 2.0 inches of rain occurred due to earlier thunderstorms.
Heavy rainfall has moved out of the area, but some standing water
may be slow to recede over the next few hours. A few streams may
continue to rise as runoff moves downstream.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chicago, Aurora, Joliet, Naperville, Cicero, Bolingbrook, Orland
Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Berwyn, Wheaton, Downers Grove,
Lombard, Romeoville, Plainfield, Calumet City, Woodridge and
Chicago Heights.

* WHAT...Lakeshore Flood Warning.

* WHERE...Central and Southern Cook County Illinois, Lake County
Indiana, and Cook County Indiana.


* WHEN...Through 5pm this Evening.

* IMPACTS...FORECAST WAVE HEIGHTS... 3 to 6 feet, with significant,
rapid water level fluctuations with potential to flood areas
along the lakeshore multiple feet deep.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Lakeshore Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or
imminent along the lake. Residents on or near the shore in the
warned area should be alert for rising water, and take
appropriate action to protect life and property.

At 1041 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts
were located along a line extending from 9 nm northeast of Elgin to 9
nm southwest of Midway Airport to 7 nm southeast of Joliet, moving
east at 50 knots.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts in excess of 65 knots.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural
damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly
higher waves.

In addition, rapid large fluctuations in water levels are possible
as and after these storms pass.
