Special Weather Statement
Issued: 8:42 PM Dec. 17, 2025 – National Weather Service
...Multi-Faceted Weather System to Impact the Region on Thursday... A strong low pressure system will track through the region on Thursday. Southerly wind gusts up to 40-45 mph are expected during the morning before westerly wind gusts to 40-45 mph occur during the afternoon and evening. Winds of this magnitude will blow around unsecured objects outdoors (including holiday decorations) and make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles. Additionally, after a period of rain earlier in the day, temperatures will plummet from the 40s into the 20s and teens during the late afternoon and evening. Gusty snow showers/squalls are expected during this time and will lead to sharply reduced visibilities and produce localized coatings of snow on roadways. Furthermore, the plummeting temperatures may also cause any moisture on pavement to freeze up, leading to slick spots on untreated roadways and sidewalks. Motorists should plan for potentially hazardous driving conditions Thursday evening.
