...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 PM HST THIS AFTERNOON FOR THE ISLAND OF OAHU IN HONOLULU COUNTY... At 1153 AM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated that heavy rain was falling over portions of Windward Oahu, mainly coastal areas. Rain is falling at a rate of 1 to 1.5 inches per hour. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Waikane, Waiahole, Kaaawa, Punaluu, Kahaluu, Hauula, Ahuimanu, Wahiawa, Mililani, Laie, Kahuku, Kaneohe, Kaneohe Marine Base, Kalihi, Maunawili, Haleiwa, Kailua, Manoa, Palolo and Waimanalo. * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Oahu. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An upper level trough swinging through the northwestern islands today will produce periods of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. The trough axis should lift north of the area later this afternoon, which should diminish the flooding threat. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
