At 358 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was near Villa Rica, or 11 miles southwest of Dallas, moving east at 10 mph. HAZARD...Up to 40 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary street flooding especially in poor drainage areas. Locations impacted include... Douglasville, Villa Rica, Temple, Hiram, Draketown, Winston, Lake Val-Do-Mar, Brownsville, New Georgia, Bill Arp, and Fairplay. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Georgia, including the following areas, in north central Georgia, Barrow, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Gwinnett, North Fulton, Rockdale, South Fulton and Walton. In northeast Georgia, Clarke, Jackson, Madison, Oconee and Oglethorpe. In northwest Georgia, Carroll, Haralson and Paulding. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Repeated rounds of rainfall along a stalled frontal boundary are likely through at least Friday Night. An anomalously moist environment over Georgia will support high rain rates and increased chances for flash flooding. Widespread rainfall of 1 to 3 inches will be possible with locally higher amounts of 5 inches or more.
