...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by heavy rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of northwest Florida, including the following
counties, Okaloosa and Santa Rosa.

* WHEN...Until 930 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Some low-water crossings may become impassable. Ponding of water
in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 624 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Gulf Breeze, Mary Esther, Oriole
Beach, Navarre, Cinco Bayou, Navarre Beach, Pensacola Beach,
Wynnehaven Beach, Harper, Woodlawn Beach and Villa Sabine.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

- At 505 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pensacola, Ferry Pass, Brent, West Pensacola, Ensley,
Warrington, Gonzalez, Pace, Gulf Breeze, Goulding, Myrtle
Grove, Floridatown, Pea Ridge, Olive, Pine Forest, Bellview,
Avondale, Brownsville, Ramsey Beach and Millview.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

MORNING...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...In Alabama, Mobile Coastal and Baldwin Coastal
Counties. In Florida, Escambia Coastal, Santa Rosa Coastal and
Okaloosa Coastal Counties.

* WHEN...Through Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
from shore into deeper water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
