...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures ranging from the mid 80s to lower 90s at the beaches to the mid 90s to around 100 for the mesas and other higher coastal terrain. Nights will be very warm with low temperatures in the upper 60s to mid 70s. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. &&

For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding expected. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, from Tuesday afternoon through Friday evening. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 6 AM Wednesday to 11 AM PDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected. Minor coastal erosion is also expected. Additionally, elevated surf will lead to strong rip currents. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated surf of 3-6 feet, with sets to 7 feet, on south and southwest-facing beaches. High tides are expected to peak between 6.5 and 7.0 feet during the mornings and evenings. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed.
