Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban areas is occuring or is imminent. Potential for minor debris flows in and near recent burn scars. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 917 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Acton, Santa Clarita, Northridge, Van Nuys, North Hollywood, Burbank, Chatsworth, Universal City, Encino, Griffith Park, Palmdale, Hollywood, Lancaster, Woodland Hills, Beverly Hills, Pasadena, Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Culver City, the Hughes burn scar and other recent small burn scars. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 0.2 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM PST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet subsiding to 4 to 7 feet on Saturday. Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...Until 3 PM PST Saturday. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. Minor beach erosion and minor flooding of usually dry areas may occur. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks. &&

...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the following areas, all areas in Los Angeles County, and the Ventura County Coast and Valleys, the northern Ventura County and Santa Barbara County Interior mountains, the Santa Susana and Santa Monica mountains, the Central Coast portion of Santa Barbara County, and all of the Channel Islands. * WHEN...From late tonight through Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...Ample roadway flooding with a number of closures are possible, including rockslides and mudslides in canyon roads. Some neighborhoods may experience shallow flooding of buildings. Heavy and dangerous flows are expected in rivers and creeks, with one or two creeks possibly overflowing. ...SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE COASTAL WATERS THROUGH LATE SATURDAY... A slight chance of thunderstorms exists across the coastal waters through at least late Saturday night as a moist and unstable upper level low pressure system will meander over the region. Any thunderstorm that forms will be capable of producing locally gale force winds and rough seas, dangerous lightning, heavy rainfall with reduced visibility, and waterspouts.
