* Until 415 PM PDT.

* At 102 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain near Kelso. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Kelbaker
and Kelso Cima Roads will be impacted.

HAZARD...Life-threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life-threatening flash flooding of low-water
crossings, creeks, normally dry washes and roads.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kelso and Mitchell Caverns.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

* At 1238 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain between mile markers 50 and 60 on Highway 62 east of
Twentynine Palms. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flash
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life-threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.

THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...A portion of Southwest California, including the following
areas, Riverside County Mountains, San Bernardino County Mountains
and San Diego County Mountains.

* WHEN...From 11 AM PDT this morning through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Debris flows in and below burn scars are possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and thunderstorms producing moderate to heavy rain
expected in the mountains during the late-morning to evening
hours today. Thunderstorms that develop have the potential to
produce rain rates of 0.50 to 1 inch per hour, locally
higher. Heavy rain has the potential to impact burn areas in
the San Bernardino mountains including, the Line, Bridge, and
Apple/El Dorado burn scars.

Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
