...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM PDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northern California, including the following counties, northwestern Alameda and western Contra Costa. * WHEN...Until 645 PM PDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 339 PM PDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, San Leandro, Mountain View, Alameda, Walnut Creek, Martinez, San Pablo, Lafayette, El Cerrito, Hercules, Albany, Pinole, Orinda, Moraga, Piedmont, Emeryville, Kensington and El Sobrante. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE COASTAL WATERS AND BAYS THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.... A deep and cold low pressure system will move southward over the coastal waters and bays resulting in a 20 to 40 percent chance of thunderstorms through early Tuesday morning. Thunderstorms will be capable of producing locally gale force winds and rough seas, lightning, heavy rainfall with reduced visibility, small hail and waterspouts.
