Maricopa County in south central Arizona... * Until 1100 PM MST. * At 1011 PM MST, a wall of dust was along a line extending from near Wintersburg to 8 miles southwest of Wittmann to Circle City to near Humbug Bay, moving northwest at 35 mph. HAZARD...Less than one mile visibility with strong wind in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Doppler radar. IMPACT...Hazardous travel. * This includes US Highway 60 between mile markers 80 and 116. Locations impacted include... Wickenburg and Aguila. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. ...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM MST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Maricopa County in south central Arizona... * WHEN...Until 1045 PM MST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 958 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.75 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Sols Wash, Flying E Wash, Mill Wash, Hartman Wash, Star Wash, Red Cloud Wash, Cemetery Wash, Hassayampa River, Martinez Wash and Jimmie Wash. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions. Afternoon temperatures 107 to 115 expected. Major to Extreme Heat Risk. * WHERE...The Phoenix metropolitan area. * WHEN...Until 8 PM MST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat stroke. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...In Maricopa County, call 2-1-1 to find a free cooling center, transportation, water and more. https://www.maricopa.gov/heat PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... An Extreme Heat Warning means that a period of very hot temperatures, even by local standards, will occur. Actions should be taken to lessen the impact of the extreme heat. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. ...OZONE HIGH POLLUTION ADVISORY FOR MARICOPA COUNTY INCLUDING THE PHOENIX METRO AREA THROUGH MONDAY... The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has issued an Ozone High Pollution Advisory for the Phoenix Metro Area through Monday. This means that forecast weather conditions combined with existing ozone levels are expected to result in local maximum 8-hour ozone concentrations that pose a health risk. Adverse health effects increase as air quality deteriorates. Ozone is an air contaminant which can cause breathing difficulties for children, older adults, as well as persons with respiratory problems. A decrease in physical activity is recommended. You are urged to car pool, telecommute or use mass transit. The use of gasoline-powered equipment should be reduced or done late in the day.
