Yavapai County in west central Arizona... * Until 1115 PM MST. * At 812 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Pocket Fire scar. Between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Pocket Fire scar. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Pocket Fire scar. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sedona, Slide Rock State Park, Edge of the World, East Pocket Lookout Tower, Fernow Cabin, Uptown Sedona, Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness and Indian Gardens. This includes the following highways... State Route 179 near mile marker 313. State Route 89A between mile markers 366 and 368...and between mile markers 374 and 382. This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds... Manzanita Campground. This includes the following swimming holes... Slide Rock, Encinoso, Grasshopper Point and Midgely Bridge. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Dry Creek, Oak Creek, Spring Creek and West Fork Oak Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Flash flooding is occurring or imminent within and downstream of the Pocket Fire scar. Severe debris flow are expected within Dry Creek, Secret Canyon, Long Canyon, Bear Sign Canyon, and the West Fork of Oak Creek. Oak Creek may also see elevated flow from the West Fork confluence to Sedona. Campers and hikers should get away from creeks and move to higher ground immediately! IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Horse Thief Basin, Crown King, Bumble Bee and Castle Creek Wilderness. This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds... Turney Gulch Group Campground and Hazlett Hollow Campground. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Minnehaha Creek, French Creek, Tiger Creek, Humbug Creek, Antelope Creek, Turkey Creek, Black Canyon, Castle Creek, Sand Creek, Government Spring Wash, Sycamore Creek, Willow Creek, Tuscumbia Creek, Tussock Spring Creek, Crazy Basin Creek, Rock Creek, Boulder Creek, Jim Creek, North Fork Rock Creek, Bear Creek and Poland Creek. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM MST /NOON MDT/ THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Yavapai County, Coconino County, northern Gila County, Navajo County, central and southern Apache County. * WHEN...From 11 AM MST /noon MDT/ this morning through this evening. * IMPACTS...Flash flooding will be possible in creeks, normally dry washes, swimming holes, and over recently burned areas. Raging killer currents will be possible in side canyons and narrow slot canyons. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep monsoon moisture in place across northern Arizona will lead to storms capable of producing rainfall in excess of 2 inches per hour, resulting in an enhanced risk of flash flooding. - Additional information is available at weather.gov/flagstaff. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Have a way to receive Flash Flood Warnings and be prepared to take action should warnings be issued. Consider changing your plans if you were going to hike, boat, or paddleboard to a slot canyon or normally dry wash.
