...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10 to 20 below zero. * WHERE...Portions of central, eastern, north central, southeast, southwest, and western Arkansas. * WHEN...Until noon CST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 10 to 20 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Additional snow accumulations of 1-2 inches across northern portions of Arkansas, up to one inch of sleet across central portions of Arkansas, and anywhere from a glaze up to one tenth of an inch of ice accumulations from central to southern Arkansas. * WHERE...Portions of central, eastern, north central, southeast, southwest, and western Arkansas. * WHEN...Until 6 PM CST this evening. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will be slick and hazardous. Power outages and tree damage are likely in areas that have significant ice accumulations. Travel could be nearly impossible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
