...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible over
areas that are already saturated from rainfall over the past 48
hours.

* WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton,
Clay, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson,
Lamar, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry,
Pickens, Pike, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega,
Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Urban areas will
also be more susceptible to flash flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Saturated soil conditions are present due to rainfall amounts
between 2 and 4 inches with locally higher amounts over the
last 48 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

Issued: 8:00 AM May. 12, 2025 – National Weather Service
...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected as additional showers and some thunderstorms
approach from the southwest and move over the advisory area.

* WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery.

* WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
River or stream flows are elevated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 300 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Montgomery, Prattville, Millbrook, Wetumpka, Meadville, Pike
Road, Elmore, Coosada, Deatsville, Alabama State University,
Alabama State Capitol, Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium,
Montgomery Zoo, Gunter Air Force Base, Maxwell Air Force
Base, Boylston, Pinedale, Lagoon Park, Hyundai Motors Of
Alabama and Woodcrest.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
