...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING... ...THE FLOOD THREAT CONTINUES ACROSS PUERTO RICO.... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Puerto Rico * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Additionally, rivers and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - An extremely wet pattern will prevail during the next several days due to the combination of abundant tropical moisture and a series of upper level troughs. Based on the latest guidance, widespread shower and thunderstorms activity is expected today and Thursday, with coverage and intensity of showers decreasing somewhat at least during the upcoming weekend. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts of 5 inches each day particularly across central Puerto Rico today and tomorrow. Elsewhere, expect rainfall amounts around 1 to 2 inches. Due to already saturated soils and rivers and tributaries running well above normal values; the threat for flood continues at least through Friday. Any prolonged period of heavy rainfall will result in urban and flash flooding, river flooding and mudslides particularly across central Puerto Rico where rains have been abundant in the last couple of days. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
